Have you ever tried to read, understand or balance a local government budget? While it may seem daunting at first, it is really just like the budget you use at home. It's planning for known expenses and setting aside money for the unexpected.
And you are a part of this year-round process. It's your sales tax dollars that fund the majority of services and programs the City provides—including police, fire, library, parks and streets. You should have a say on how they are allocated.
Here at Speak Up, Stillwater, you can use our interactive budget simulation tool called Balancing Act to show us how you would balance the City of Stillwater's budget.
To access Balancing Act, scroll down to "Build Your Own Budget."
If you have any questions, ask us. We are looking forward to hearing from you!
