You might have noticed orange and white barriers or tables outside of local bars and restaurants. These are called Streateries! This is a new way for businesses to practice COVID-19 precautions and adhere to guidelines while making their services and products accessible to you.
Here's how it works: Stillwater bars and restaurants can apply for a temporary outdoor expansion permit to extend service to outdoor areas such as sidewalks, on-street parking, or private parking lots. The permit was originally offered through an emergency proclamation issued by Mayor Joyce. On Nov. 30, 2020, Mayor Joyce signed an amendment that extends the temporary order until Ordinance No. 3456 can go into effect.

Stillwater City Council and Mayor Joyce have enacted a variety of guidelines and requirements for businesses to remain open safely during the COVID-19 pandemic. The introduction of Streateries provides another way for businesses to continue serving Stillwater residents safely.
